  • @tmacsgvs This is one of the most important cases before the supreme court which affects us all, before this if you got thrown in jail for whatever reason it was just you vs the district attorney/ police/ witnesses/ accusers/ judge/ etc! if you couldnt afford attorney, too bad! off to jail you go, but now thanks to this case everyone is entitled to "equal protection under the law", and as such are afforded legal counsel to help you. To bad the public "pretenders" of today suck balls.

  • 1963 Supreme Court case that established a criminal defendant's right to counsel. This case established the Public Defender's office as an institution in the criminal justice system. Before that you were on your own.

  • its a case. It over ruled Betts V. Brady.

    Gideon was a old guy accused of doing a crime, he was denied his 6th amendment [right to representation] and so he was thrown in jail. Later he wrote a letter to the SCOTUS and they heard his case. He won then.
