@scottishbastard1 if you are moving out of the way of shots it means you don't feel safe/protected in the cage. You need to wear more equipment until you feel confident that you are going to either catch the ball, or if it hits you that it's not going to hurt.
In regards to shin guards and clearing, you can wear soccer shin guards for added protection. That's easy.

hey whenever there are quick sticks or close range shots i save them but than the minute a player winds up to shoot i get worried and move out of the way of the shot. but i dont want to move out of the way i just do its kinda hard not to. do you know any tips that can help me stay in front of shots. also i dont wear any leg pads like shingaurds because the strongest aspect of my goaltending is clearing so i always feel like i wont be able to run what should i do!?

@SCOEN you don't need arm protection, it just slows down your hands. Get more confident with your save moves and you will rarely get hit in the arms

Goalies learn how to clear the ball too! It's just not about stopping it...
is there any arm protection i can buy?

@SCOEN Some of the new chest protectors have upper arm guards that attach with velcro to a shoulder cap and then to the chest protector. I highly recommend these for new goalies. You can always take them off for game days if you wish but I think you'll find that you'll get used to them pretty quickly. As to the comments about "getting more confident with your save moves and you will rarely get hit in the arms" I'd like to add this: Getting more confident will only come when you feel safe.
