@lovebluescat I cried when I read your note about how he had to get put to sleep. My brother has seizures and he doesn't respond after he either stares or shakes. When you were calling his name, I don't think he was hearing you. I'm so sorry for your loss, I know I'd be depressed if my dog passed, and horrified if my brother passed. Power to you!

I had a 14-year-old German Spitz that had a stroke/seizure about 7-8 months ago. I took her to the vet immediately and had her put to sleep. I definitely lost it when I was in the room. Thank God my mom was there. After we put Ebony to sleep, I went back into the room by myself one more time for one last goodbye. She just lay there...not hurting anymore. They needed a pretty dog in heaven. :) I'm crying right now as I'm typing this up. Dogs really are man's best friend!

OH YEAH!! and people usually do lose control of their bladder during or after Grand Mal Seizures (tonic clonic seizures), idk if dogs are similar in any kind of way.

This is exactly what my 2 year old border does. Its horrific to watch knowing I cant help him. Im facing having to make the decision to have him put to sleep his tablets just dont seem to be holding it.

@lovebluescat I am so sorry to read this. My GSD had the same problems and we too had to put him down. Falco was our pride and joy, we miss him so much. So sorry for your loss as well! RIP SHOOTER AND FALCO.

@Morningwhispers I had almost the same scenario we had just put down my pup this last september, september 20th 4:40 am. She had a cluster of seizures starting at 12:30 am finally brought her in at 2:10 am because the seizures wouldn't stop. we stayed at the hospital for over 2 hours debating what to do. We put her down knowing we couldn't handle this if it happened again. Sometimes doing the hardest option is the only option. It would have been more than selfish for us to keep her alive.
We eventually had to put him asleep a couple of months ago. From 3 am. to 10 p.m. he had 13 seizures and suffered a stroke during this time. He started eating strange items, uncontrollable bowels, and running into walls, tripping over little things, and dragged his feet and could barely walk. It was a hard decision, but it was for the best. He wouldn't suffer anymore. He was on meds, but it just wasn't enough. They are very scary to witness. RIP Shooter.
