This video is an introduction to future videos on how to make your own optical fiber cable for indoor lighting applications. I imagine it could be used for short data transfers but will not say for sure.

I am working on getting the perfect filling for this.

  • There are too many comments for me to go through all of them, but has anyone looked into using thick fishing line for light transmission? My guess is that it would work and that it would be really cheap.

  • Regarding the spool you bought on eBay: Why on earth didn't you ask what you were buying before you bought it (number and thickness of internal fiber strands)? You could have avoided your disappointment, for corn's sake....
