"Al di là" translates to "Beyond". Emilio Pericoli's 1962 version peaked at number six on Billboard's pop charts and number three on the easy listening charts. Several covers were done including a version by Jerry Vale that also reached the pop charts. This version of the song was featured in the American film Rome Adventure (1963) starring Troy Donahue and Suzanne Pleshette.

  • This is the best version, because the Italian language brings out the emotion and sentiment that a heart felt song like this needs to express it greatness! I loved song since I was kid and it is still a great standard and will last test of time!

  • Hauntingly beautiful....

  • I believe the singer on the film Roman Adventure was Frankie Fanelli. There's a Youtube version with him singing in the movie. Just put his name in the search box.

  • Takes me down memory lane! The most romantic song by a great italian tenor, the original and the best.

  • Where do I buy this beatiful song. I love it and sing it in my car when I'm driving!!

  • Oh my God I am crying a little to hear this beautiful song once again. @filmbuff57 you are so right about the italian language version being the most soulful and really heartbreaking. I remember this from when I was a little girl, even then it got through to me!

  • WHAT A BEAUTIFUL VERSION, THIS TRULY MAKES ME THINK OF MY FRIEND SAL, SWEET MEMORIES THAT ARE FOREVER IN MY HEART AND MIND , AND THOUGH HE IS FAR OFF IN THE DISTANCE RIGHT NOW , DIVINE INTERVENTION IS ANOTHER MATTER.

  • The best way to appreciate this excellent song is to see Emilio Pericoli performing it in the 1962 movie "Rome Adventure." The way it's performed, the way the scene is set up, and the way one young lover explains the meaning to another add quite a lot - and so does the light in the eyes and face of Pericoli as he concludes.

  • Fantastic!

  • love this

  • bella canzone!

  • @alcione667: BUENO, QUE A TODOS NO NOS IMPORTEN TUS GUSTOS Y RECUERDOS...EXAGERAS. AQUÍ HAY UN COLO0MBIANO POR DÉCADAS PRENDIDO A ESTE MARAVILLOSO TEMA. PABLO TAMBIÉN VIÓ LA PELÍCULA "LOS AMANTES DEBEN APRENDER". ESTA JOYA DE MELODÍA, PERTENECE AL CANCIONERO UNIVERSAL NO ME HACE SOÑAR. PERO SÍ ME HACE, QUE NUNCA LA OLVIDE. PABLO, DESDE BOGOTÁ
