How and why do the caps embedded in Lung Fei's torso make him impervious to harm? Or is it that his invincibility is a technique which has nothing to do with the caps?

supposedly he does iron body which makes his whole body impervious to harm. But, iron body practitioners still have one or two weak points, so I guess he has the caps to protect his only weak points. But then, I've never done iron body, so I'm just guessing from what I've seen in other kung fu movies
