"Reelin' In the Years" is a song by jazz rock band Steely Dan, released as the sixth track on their 1972 album, Can't Buy a Thrill.
The song was written by Donald Fagen and Walter Becker and features Fagen on vocals. The song was also a #11 hit on the Pop singles chart in 1973. In March 2005, Q magazine placed the song at number 95 in its list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks. Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page has reportedly said that Elliott Randall's guitar solo on "Reelin' In the Years" is his favorite solo of all time

  • Thanks so much for sharing this. This is just terrific stuff from a begone era of intellectual rock mixed with incredible pickin'

  • For the record it's not the camera guy's fault....it's the director for focusing on the wrong guitarist. Great song though.

  • @marnold2000 no, fagen and becker were "about as far away from being rednecks as you can get", because they were, as denny and skunk would say, "a couple of new york jews". however, the rest of the band were proud southern men, who would later on have their band stolen from them the nefarious fagen and becker. i'm not by any means advocating racism - and racists they were - but denny and skunk really got a raw deal

  • @newfuckingwave Rednecks? This band was about as far away from being rednecks as you can get, do some research kid...

  • denny and skunk are so fucking proud. the spilt-screen is such a heart-warming moment

  • Skunk Baxter could probably send that guitar to get him a coffee.

  • Take a shot every time Fagen jerks his head back.

  • Everytime I hear this song I think of Summertime :)

  • @TFIFH Ya, my same thoughts! :(............

  • @blandmobile Because they wouldn't have anyone to guest. All the "music" now is produced mechanically in the studio.
