A news reader about how children from lower-class families are more inclined to be fat. Produced by Whitley and Billy for Brett M. Rhyne's Introduction to Communications class, Salem State College, Fall 2008.
"This news report, recorded in-computer, may portend the future of citizen journalism. The story is important, but the vlogger format of two talking heads reading from the screen, rather than looking at the camera, is disconcerting. It also does not adequately communicate the counterintuitive findings of the study being reported: that poor kids are fat because they dont enough. The producers include only two brief stills as B-roll, but they are well-chosen and effective. More image and text graphics would have made the piece appear more 11 oclock newsy, helped us better understand the story, and offered some visual variation."
