I wonder if it could be related to a feature of the P called a variable torque hinge? It means the torgue and the force you need to open and close the lid varies depending on how open the lid is. Its why the lid of the P can be hard to open theres alot more torgue, likewise when the lid is open fully the hinge is alot stiffer. Inbetween those extremes theres alot less torgue.
THe hinge will break!

to fix it you will need a new hinge or you might be able to tighten the hinge
a but of rubber will not help

i guess you can fix it by unscrewing the unit and put some rubber coating in it?

It's not so bad with my one, check with Sony or the retailer.
My one only moves if you have it completely vertical.

mine does the same thing too. im pretty sure they are all made that way cuz its such a thin and light screen.
