The University of Nebraska-Lincoln kicked off the Bike UNL campaign on April 6, 2011. Bike UNL is a program designed to make the university more bike friendly. UNL is pursuing a "Bike Friendly Campus" designation awarded by the League of American Bicyclists.
The effort to become a Bike-Friendly Campus is a partnership among the Association of Students of the University of Nebraska, Campus Recreation, the Chancellor's Wellness Initiative and the City of Lincoln.
This the second year the League of American Bicyclists has offered a Bicycle Friendly University designation. In the first round, 32 universities applied and 20 earned the designation.
