  • I'm from Arkansas & I made southeast all-region choir 17th chair alto 1. We are performing this piece in 2 weeks at our concert on November 19th. I'm very excited for this year, but on the downside, we didn't have a language piece for tryouts this year, which is my favorite part I look foward to when it comes time for tryouts.

  • I love the duet between the Altos and Basses..chills! Says a Soprano!

  • on "he is a great king" the sopranos have a VERY high note but you cant hear it because at that exact moment they get louder.

  • Disclaimer: I'm a student of Arkansas Schools, College student of the Univ. of Ark. System, and music teacher in deep south texas. I think I've seen each side. Truly, I think it depends on your personal preference. That being said, yes, it's harder to make it into the Texas all-state. Each group has their own criticisms. In this performance, for example, I think there's way too much vibrato. Someone else may think differently. Choral musicians are few and far between, get along!

  • Arkansas All-State is performing this piece in February. -- We never sound as full or precise, but what other people don't realize is that we're so much smaller than Texas, do not have near as many people in the choir, and only go through two audition processes. (Region and State.) -- But, I think for what we have to work with, we actually sound really great.

Look up Arkansas All-State Animal Crackers. -- I think it's wonderful!

  • Proud member of this group. Crazy to think it was barely three years ago...feels like forever.

  • Who cares of Texas - every state has All State Choirs (if Im correct) you texans are so ego about your stupid crime state its not even funny - who fuckin cares - at least here in IA i have rights to marry who I love -

  • i would just like to say, the orchestra deserves more credit...it's not an easy part.

  • @nbucknerfly Are you serious? I'm sorry but do you have ears?....well let me re-phrase that. Do you have an ear adapted to musicality? If so, then you would clearly see my standpoint. It's not our of rudeness or arrogance, but it's just fact. Texas would stand above any state choir it competed against if there were such competitions.

  • My sister's chorus sang this when she was in the 6th grade and it was awesome.
