Better version at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-l6bd5QdIUM!

Blue flashes are political changes within a government; green flashes are declarations of independent government; and red flashes are fallen governments under conquest. Arrows are wars, from invader to invadee.

Work in progress. Sorry if I missed your revolution/independence/war/etc.

  • this map is not correct. for example you didn't put Karelia and Petsamo for Finland from 1917 to WW2.

  • @FinMilkku sorry, there are lots of errors. one of the very first that anyone noticed was that i gave karelia directly to USSR. someday when i make a new map, i will fix it!

  • You not show USA operations in Asia.

    Iraq, Afgan and others.

  • @RobotN001 yes i did - the US attack on iraq is an arrow pointing up into iraq from saudi arabia, and is accompanied by a civil war 'double arrow'; the afghan invasion arrow disappears after 2001 and is replaced by a double arrow signifying a new afghan civil war, this may have been a mistake.

  • 20,000 views! i am a hero!

  • Could you make a slow motion versionin 20 or even 45minutes? And with little written words? In higher qualitiy? ;-)

  • @LorenzoLassek i could send you the original, which is higher resolution. the temporal resolution is 1 frame per month, which i think comes through here. i'm going to wait a few years and make a new and improved version...
