***********THE PLANS FOR THE FOSTORIA RAIL PARK HAVE BEEN PUT ON HOLD BY THE ODOT, PROBABLY DUE TO BUDGET FUNDING.*********** ( Bring in 6 or 8 tri-axles of stone, 140-170 tons, level it, put up blue "Porta-potty", a couple fire-rings, like Deshler, and I'd be all set, we'd bring lawn-chairs, that's good enough for now!) ................................................................................................

This was my first trip to Fostoria for rail-fanning, what an amazing couple hours that was. I seen close to 20 trains all together in that time-frame. I missed a Eastbound CSX intermodal, and then almost at the same time missed two side by side Norfolk Southern's heading Westward towards Fort Wayne. On the way out a CSX was coming from the East taking the wye to the South, as another CSX set in the distance waiting on either an East or Westbound train,as I left town, sure enough about a mile out I passed the oncoming CSX auto-rack that he was waiting on. I seen: CSX, Conrail's, Norfolk Southern's, BNSF's, CP Rail's, Soo-Line (nice to see that) & Union Pacific's.

Yes, these videos have been edited, to fit in one "less then 10 minute video", or I would have had close to 2 hours length. The BNSF Coal drag was 131 cars long, all aluminum hoppers, at the 7 minute point, one had purple and yellow graffitti, other then that all pretty much the same, that train alone was a 9 minute 55 second video recording.

Currently they are working on the future "Rail Park", it is fenced in with chain-link, and "No Trespassing" signs, I parked by where the future entrance appears to be, two bulldozers are there right now, no one run me off, so I take it that was alright. There is a drive with the snow plowed all the way around it, don't know about the other spots along there for sure, or what CSX allows on that side, I didn't want to take any chances though, too far from home to be arrested for trespassing... lol

  • I read a article about Fostoria in this months Trains magazine. Looks like I might have to go check this place out sometime.

  • @ChessieSeaboardX It's definitely worth checking out, constant trains, some spots are better then others, it's a pretty extensive area to be able to get close to all the areas at once. I'm going to be heading over there hopefully not to far in the future, I haven't been back since I done this video 6 months ago, it's a couple hour drive from where I am.

  • I've been going to Fostoria for years. As a matter of fact, I'm going to Fostoria in about 5 hours from Detroit.

  • @pica6888 It has to be one of the busiest rail-fan locations in the Mid-West

  • sweet man so awesome

  • I was "thumbs up" 45 seconds into the video. CSX uses stack trains on the old C&O RR from Fostoria to Toledo/ Detroit? Wow! I never knew that. Classique!

  • dumb question what do autoracks carry

  • Went there 10/17/10 with my 8 yo son. It is worth a trip there. Saw 12 trains in just under 3 hours. The best place to watch is across from the old B&O station.

  • kinda weak k5la on CSX385
