Union Pacific Northern Class 4-8-4 steam locomotive no. 844 pulled the Denver Post Cheyenne Frontier Days Special in celebration of this Wyoming western event. No. 844, built in 1944, is the last continually operating steam locomotive that has never been retired. Behind the steam locomotive was Union Pacific Centennial Class DDA40X 6936, the largest class of diesel locomotive ever built. The Frontier Days train left Denver Union Station on time at 7:00am on Saturday, July 18, 2009. The return trip departed Cheyenne, WY at 5:30pm for an 8:00pm arrival back in Denver. Presented are both the northbound and southbound passings of the passenger train at Bush Street crossing in Brighton, CO.
