Snowmobiles destroy plants and terrain near timberline at Grizzly Gulch, Colorado

In this video I'm just above 11,000 feet (3,353 metres) near timberline at Grizzly Gulch, Colorado. The damage done by snowmobiles is pretty obvious despite the low light levels due to falling snow and heavy cloud cover.

I usually receive a lot of emails from snowmobile riders trying to convince me that they never destroy anything, never scare animals, or that they don't make much noise. They also email me with lots of threats and foul language but that comes with the territory for anyone speaking and posting truth these days.

Nevertheless, despite the claims of snowmobile riders, anyone who has ever been in the backcountry has seen all the damage, noise and pollution they create - this video is just a very small sample of the destruction here in my own state (Colorado).

Colorado's wilderness and forest areas are shrinking fast so it's important that we all speak up and take a stand against destruction, any destruction - regardless whether it's caused by snowmobiles, shopping malls, or ski resorts.
