Within a Jazz group, comping is the art of improvising a chordal accompaniment for a soloist or singer. In this video, Andrew Wasson of Creative Guitar explains how to create comping over a set of jazz chord changes. Be sure to visit the Creative Guitar Website for the complete lesson, including the music chart for the piece performed during this lesson. http://www.creativeguitarstudio.com/articles/comping.php

  • I've been watching your videos and you really do sum up a lot of things I have been having trouble with. I was wanting to know that if soon you would post a video explaining the 7, 9, 11, and 13 chords on guitar. I notice looking at chord charts on some jazz music, that it's loaded with these chords. It would help to know how they are created.

  • GREAT GREAT GREAT - REALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I just started school again and I am in Jazz combos and Jazz improv. It's much different playing this stuff with a group and chord sheets then it is just watching youtube videos and jamming. I'm so scared! I've gotta rewatch all the vids on music reading too, for the single note stuff.

    Music is life.

    Samuel.
