  • genius the man is a genius

  • @AcridPeter You're an idiot. Shane McGowan sings traditional Irish influenced music, so he sings with an Irish accent. Elton sings rock and roll, which came from america, so it makes sense that the accent changes. You ever heard Mick Jagger or Roger Daltrey's singing voices? And even if there were such a thing as an "english accent", Morrissey certainly doesn't sing in one.

  • im not gay but he was a good lookin dude back in the day.

  • @furpurr Sorry, are you David Furnish? One can affect an accent while singing, you know. It doesn't just apply to speech. Morrissey sings in an English accent, Dolly Parton in a Texan drawl, Bjork with an Icelandic lilt, Shane MacGowan in an Irish brogue. You're right that many singers tend to tone down their native accents when singing, but not so many affect such a clear American one, as does your friend Elton. It's comical.

  • @AcridPeter "shitty american accent"?? WHERE?!?! he is SINGING, 'peter'! he's not TALKING!! DUH...if you listen to MOST singers from elsewhere in the world, they often lose their accents when singing, perhaps in the same way stutterers lose their stutter when singing.

& also DUH, we ALL KNOW he is english-born! *eye roll*

  • Freedom was an optimistic word of joy in the U.S. back then, as opposed to a word used to replace 'French' in French fries to try to stick it to France or an excuse to invade, overthrow, and occupy other countries.

  • his voice is too powerful for that mic

  • This video makes me so happy!!!

  • @Steven458565 What white boy? i don't see any white boy in this video. hahaha JK

  • I like how the crowd sort of joins in for the last second as the record fades out. They would never allow the record to fade out now, and leave Elton singing a cappella, basically. I get the feeling he always gave a little extra on Soul Train in order to justify being invited on. And having an all black audience around him was probably a little intimidating. Probably blew his mind.
