In a 280 square mile area of Josephine County, Oregon we have no public fire district, so because of this we have 3 private fire departments who compete for contracts. This video shows one of them in action, the Grants Pass Rural Fire Department (not to be confused with the City Of Grants Pass Fire Department). Many people in this area consider this "so-called" fire department the worst of the worst. The county commissioners have tried repeatedly on closing them down and the County Sheriff will NOT let them run Code 3 for calls.

  • Thankyou for the warning to turn down the volume, much appreciated

  • @RCJproductions1 your very welcome.

  • Hey I need history on that marroon right on last video shot...I think it used to belong to my department here in Calling, infor would be awesome!

  • @paraawesome The engine is still at the Merlin Fire Station on Merlin Road. They did buy it used and they have only had it for 10 or so years. Good luck finding any info, GPRFD is very hush hush.

  • @caterpilar665 If they can't afford SCBA or bunker gear, then they shouldn't be trying to run a fire department. This is serious stuff - it has life and death consequences. You can WANT to help others, but becoming a casualty due to lack of training and equipment isn't going to help anyone, anytime. My favorite part of the video is when the R/M chief walks up and asks the woman who might be charge if she has accountability and she shakes her head no. Awesome.

  • Wow. You must make sure Labor and Industries is sent this footage with all the information that you have. Who cares if they are unsuccessful putting out a fire on there own, it happens. However, firefighter safety does matter and we have LAWS that say so! Follow through with this amazing footage, you could possibly save all those untrained firefighters from getting hurt!

  • @Mizzle83 Make it even worse, Only one of those is an 1 3/4, the other is a 1" booster, Now when Rural/Metro got on scene they had 2 1 3/4 lines but still from what ive seen Grants Pass rural is a joke

  • Why dont the people of Grants Pass fundraise, and start their own VFD, Get the proper training, proper gear and save lives/property for a yearly subscription fee, Most departments in my area charge $75 per household per year, the rest of the money they make is fundraising/grants. They do just fine and most have ISO ratings around 5 which is pretty good for a rural area..

  • Wow this is blue print for a LODD! Put on a air pack, stop hiding behind the weeds, and put the water on the fire! Two 1 3/4" lines is like pissing on that much fire. Big fire=big water. Pull out the 2 1/2" and do something besides saving the slab.

  • Looks like they went to a structure fire dressed in wild land gear. Some of them even look like construction road crew members

  • Wow!!!! This Shit Crazy. As A Paid And Volunteer F.F....I Would Say This Dept Needs To Be Shut Down...Running Out Of Water, No Proper PPE ,No Mutal-Aid...And A Truck On It's Last Leg... Smh CLOSED FOR GOOD IN MY BOOK

  • Sad, scary and disturbing. Here's hope in that they get some training and equipment. Lucky they didn't hurt themselves.

  • Are there no standards in that state as to what constitutes a fired department or can anyone buy a truck and call themselves a fire department.
