Jeneece Has A "Blast"

VIEW ROYAL - Jeneece Edroff is ready to blast. Her target: A rocky ridge where Jeneece Place will soon stand. She hits the red button Friday morning, and kaboom.

With every blast, Jeneece Place, a project of the Queen Alexandra Foundation for Children moves one step closer to reality. The eight-bedroom facility next door to Victoria General Hospital will be a home away from home for island families who have travelled for medical care.

It seems some of Jeneece's limitless supply of positive energy is rubbing off on the project. Construction is right on time, even ahead of schedule.

Queen Alexendra Board Chair Chuck Chandler says money was raised for Jeneece Place faster than expected, and the property was licensed from VIHA in very short order.

Jeneece herself has been slowed down by ongoing medical issues, but her spirit remains strong. "It feels amazing because I know as soon as this gets started it's going to be done before you know it."

The pint-sized super fundraiser and her family will be back at the site on Monday for the official groundbreaking, and Jeneece has requested one more turn at the trigger.
