Bonobo vs. Pacman

Making the assumption that if cognition was to be found in non-human species, it would most likely be in the ones that were most similar to ourselves - bonobos. In this modern age experiment, a test is being conducted to exercise the hand-eye coordination of bonobos and whether they can understand an end goal.

On a side note: this ape seems right at home in the video game world. But I am still not seeing the importance of teaching him how to play Pacman. Now Donkey-Kong, that's a game I think he would like.

I've noticed alot of these videos are in Japanese. Is primatology big in Japan? I want to know because I am interested in studying these great apes but seeing how in the U.S our government can barely fund itself, I dont think they would fund any scientific studies.

@Sluggo117 The spoken comments do indeed appear to come from Asia (I'm unsure if it is Japanese.) But I do see that the woman in the documentary is an American lady. Further, this is a rather old clip, unaffected by current monetary problems of the US federal government.

Um....aren't chimpanzees closer to us than bonobos? Granted, they're not exactly suited to this experiment...a male chimp would have ripped her face off for kissing him like that.

Dude!! I haven't even seen HUMANS wait for the ghosts to come to them in PacMan! He not only understood how the game worked (though he had a little help), but he developed a strategy on his own with his minimal experience!
