  • I was also at this festival and ended up on stage to Jimi's right. I swear at about 1:20 ,that is my shadowy face with the headband on. after the show I got back stage and actually got to meet Jimi!!! we talked for about 15-20 minutes until he had to go and they tossed my butt out. I will never forget that night! Long Live the Music

  • Oh my God !!!!!!! that was some performance ! I got to see Jimmi nine times in all, in England between 67 and 70 [ nice to see comments from other old guys ] and although they were all great they were also quite chaotic until he found his groove, then almost eerily magical. Don't think I've ever heard such a strong vocal from him as on this clip, and Mich's drumming is superb. fabulous.

  • Fucking genius.

  • unbelievable that solo

  • the best

  • I was there too, but in the adjoining area with a friend and "enjoying" each others company. ;-)

    Talk about mood music! woot

  • Thats right! jimi hendrix is still the greatest guitarist of all time! As voted again by rolling stone magazine 11/23/2011. So all you EVH fans SUCK IT!

  • Jimi had a show later that night in Miami...Technically, it was the same day. Life on the road...

  • @maryjwp Wow, thanks. iI must have been crazy. I think I remember reading somewhere that there were actually more people at the Atlanta (Byron) Pop Fest than at Woodstock for example.I always use this festival as a proof there were many other festivals after Altamont '69 (you always read the "it was the last one" bullcrap. It was awful though). My first Hendrix booteg ever was this show. The stage looks pretty high (no pun intended), was it the case? There are no large shots in this footage.

  • @dummytree , No you would not recognize the place at all. They made a law after that there could never be another festival there. It got really wild. All the police left and just let the crowd have the place. They were outnumbered. Alot of folks showed up from all over the country and no tickets available. They crashed the gates. I was about 50ft back when they did. Never saw another cop after that just lots of naked bodies.
