@HomebrewGuru at the expense of nearly 200,000 Japanese civilians?! And that was only from the blasts themselves, I haven't even taken into account the thousnads more that died in the years that followed from either radiation poisoning or all sorts of horrible cancers caused by the radiation. Would you put that balance on the loss of perhaps a few thousand mre Allied troops?
There were other ways to defeat Japan but this saved the Allies time and money.
@HomebrewGuru Wars in and of themselves are not necessary, being used by the ruling eltie to further their own agendas of wealth, power and control at the expense of the vast majorty of the people in the world. Financial interests often fund BOTH sides, they don't care who wins since in the long run the rulers still rule. Everyone should read the book War is a Racket, by US Marine Corps General Smedey Butler, who served 34 years and received the Medal of Honor twice. It will open your eyes.
Very informative!
