The episode featured the Duggars' frugality in their purchasing. The Duggars do not use credit cards, only debit cards or cash. They purchase clothing from a thrift shop, groceries from Aldi, grow their own vegetables, use firewood (from trees on their property) to heat their home, and even have a recipe to make their own laundry detergent.

  • @first2middle Other important things, perhaps? I'm from Quebec, where for generations, families were huge and older siblings pitched in like the Duggars. It was not child abuse, and the Duggar girls helping out at home is not child abuse either.

  • @rosuabsc It doesn't become SOLID (the liquid one) it just gets lumpy at the top.... Dip enough out to fill your jug and then fill with water and shake WELL. And every time you use it shake the bottle 2-3 times.... We've been using it since they originally aired this show on TV and it works GREAT !!!!

  • They need to become extreme couponers...

  • @hashamhk They were debt free before TLC ever started filming their family. They have tons of rental properties and they also rent out the cell phone tower which Jim Bob said brings in a ton of money. Also, they save up for what they want to buy rather than spending it all up front and then paying off a loan.

  • Thank you for all that you do for others. I really like the cheese grater the children used to make the shredded soap. Does you site carry this hand cheese mill, or would you please advise me how I may purchase this product.

Thank you and God Bless you all !

  • so this Aldi place has lower overhead because they don't actually stock the shelves they just stack the cartons on top of eachother ?

  • if not for this they would probably spend hundreds a week on just laundry soap,

  • @09ecw101 trust me i know i checked online and if they moved to Beverly Hills they would lose a lot of there viewers but i would not mind watching they could rename the show Keeping with the Duggars

  • @hashamhk not that much or they would be living in Beverly hills not a little town in Arkansas

  • its called buy used save the difference!!!

  • Do u guys know they get paid per episode like 20 to 30 grand an episode thats why they are not in debt
