Beniamino Gigli, tenore (1890-1957)
Puccini, Tosca

Lyric:
E lucevan le stelle
ed olezzava la terra,
stridea l'uscio dell'orto,
e un passo sfiorava la rena...
Entrava ella, fragrante,
mi cadea fra le braccia...

O dolci baci, o languide carezze,
L'ora è fuggita...E muoio disperato!
E muoio disperato...

  • Most beautiful, Maldoror... and your subtitles, too. Wonderful, thank you !

  • @tomfroekjaer

you are always wellcome. to my mind after Caruso comes Gigli and Schipa as lyric tenor.Caruso is a diamond, Gigli is a gold, Schipa is a silver.:-)

  • A voice made out of velvet combining sonority, agility and passion at the same time.

    Wonderful rendition. Thank you.

  • @tomfroekjaer not agreed :) caruso is wonderful! great but gigli has nore variability

  • Trop fort

  • One one my favourite all time versions. The Gigli sob is well deserved here!

Thank you for the post :)

  • @rosaponselleart Yes, that's for me also. Although somehow Björling could fit in too.

  • Gives me goosebumps every time i listen to it. Too bad modern music doesn't make me that proud to be italian.

  • Genial.
