Theres no denying Maysville is much improved, but against Tri-Valleys high-powered spread attack the Panthers still couldnt secure the Muskingum Valley Leagues biggest upset.
Behind the experience of veteran quarterback Clay Cameron, the Scotties (2-0) prevailed at the new Maysville Athletic Complex, 24-16. The southpaw threw for 187 yards and a touchdown, while rushing for another 72 yards and a score. Senior D.J. Ecleberry carried the ball 16 times for 131 yards.
Maysville (1-1) took the first lead of the game in the first quarter, 7-0, when quarterback Cory Wilson found his way into the end zone although it was short-lived.
The Panthers play-caller sparked his teams offense all night, rushing for 130 yards and passing for another 139 yards and a touchdown.
Dillon Winland pulled in four of those passes for a game-high 75 yards.
Overall Tri-Valley outgained the home team by a slim margin 390 total yards to the Panthers 359 yards of offense.
