Squirrels rob my apple trees too. They grab an apple and then carry it off into the woods to eat. I have a photo of one running along a staghorn sumac branch carrying a half-eaten apple in his mouth.

I saw a squirrel eating the exact same sort of apple the other day when I shooed him off the yard's strawberry patch. Told him "it ain't nice taking someone else's strawberries", after which he chirped at me, climbed up a tree and chirped some more with a more aggressive tone. Then he went and snagged an apple from a nearby apple tree. Damn funniest thing all month.
