Too narrow. Puts trhe cutting edge dangerously close to your finger when sharpening it properly. As in, putting your finger into the finger cut-out where it's supposed to go.

I like the free-hand sharpening ability with the folding rod that doubles as a useful marlin spike. The rod is fine for sharpening plain-edged blades as well. But the two "v" notch cut-outs should be avoided.
