  • hey thanks for the video

after using the tamiya putty and everything is sanded down, do you HAVE to prime the parts first before painting or can i paint it as it is (im using tamiya acrylic spray paint)

    thanks!

  • @CoopXP Hello, glade you like it. unless you are covering the whole piece in putty it is still best to prime plus priming will show if you made a mistake in covering the seam line. Plus Tamiya only does lacquer spray paint unless your airbrushing?

  • @mokanaman oh WOOPS my mistake haha yep it's lacquer just double checked.

it's going to be my first time painting a kit and seam filling too =P

    and thanks again!!!

  • @CoopXP lol good work. Let us know how you go.

  • Hey mokanaman i am doing the sinanju SD kit just wondering for the head, the mono eye moves so do i paint the eye first mask it with tape and then snap the head together and fill in the seam line running down it head

  • @lopuilap I'm not familiar with that kit but sounds like you have a good game plan. I would run with it.

  • @mokanaman hahahaha thanks but i have the trouble of making my brain thnking of how to remove the masking tape :D

  • Ty for such a great tutorial. I've been having a bit of trouble finding a good guide for using Tamiya Putty. This really helped me out :)

  • @CyberFur Revell putty work out really nicely if u cut to much out and make a small hole and such and the best way i found out was just to put some one fill it in and let it dry then add another layer witch i then file down and primer to make a smooth coat then paint over. hope this work's out for you good luck with your next build

Hello, I was using Tamiya primer in the spray gun, Tamiya putty is lacquer based so it sticks really well to the model but shrinks as it drys so you will have to compensate for that which isn't a problem and quick drying/ easy to sand. Tamiya masking tape is fantastic to work with and is the industry standard, also I'm interested in how revell putty works?
