  • THE FIREFIGHTER'S SON

When alarm bells ring, the firefighter runs. A monstrous fire had just begun.

He pulled on jacket, boots, and hat then hurried as nimble as a cat

to fight a fire that couldn't be tamed, to save those lives of the yet unnamed.

His truck went shrieking through his town to meet two towers falling down.

Without a pause, he ran into a tower of terror, burning through.

The smoke was thick; he could barely see the people running to get free.

  • He led them all to safety, then he turned and smiled, then ran back in.

The walls were crumbling, coming down, but he kept on following every sound

to find the voice of each stranded soul. To rescue all was his noble goal.

The fire was fierce, roaring all around. "Get out!" called his chief. "It's coming down!"

Just then the fighter heard a cry from a frightened child about to die.

  • Without a thought, the fighter ran deep into the fire where the stairs began.

They descended to the basement, dark and deep where a child might hide and fall asleep.

He stood on the stairs and felt the fear that he'd soon lose his life he held so dear.

He said, "I can't do this. What should I do?" Then the answer to his fears came gently through.

The firefighter's trick, that's seldom known is to adopt that frightened child as one of his own.

  • Everyone knows that a parent will run through fire to rescue their daughter or son.

So he ran down the stairs and found the boy reaching out his arms in relief and joy.

He carried the child up the basement fast to escape this nightmare and be free at last.

The terrible groan of this mountain of steel told the boy and the fighter that the danger was real.

With the fighter's mighty sprint, their lives were won, by a firefighter, brave, with a brand new son.

  • That's a true American President. Can't wait till we have a real one again.

  • Yep, I remember. Notice...no teleprompters. This guy actually meant what he said.

  • Thankyou my brothers and sisters firefighters...

  • Remember when we had a president?
