I saw this the first time in Guam in 1970. I said to my future wife, "that looks like home". And it was. I was raised at Depoe Bay, South of the Siletz River and Kernville, where this was filmed, until we move father South in Oregon in "61".
There's another title for this movie besides "Sometimes a Great Notion". It's "Never Give an Inch".
This outfit reminds me of NGU(Never Give Up) logging out of Gold Beach, Oregon.
