Wow I miss this band. My wife and I believe much of the world missed out on this ! Soooo much talent !

@kc7fys let me encourage you make those CDRs available as .torrents. CDRs can go south quickly, as can commercially pressed CDs. my late 90's pressing of Are You Shakespearienced now has several "holes" in it where the label/substrate flaked away, taking the music with it.
a CDR is at as much risk as a cassette in a shoebox or a tape on a dashboard. i'm sure there are lots of us out here who'd love to help you preserve the dwindling history of this great band.

@kc7fys well said...

I saw Trip at the Red Carpet amongst other places. They were exceptional in every way. How many bands create their own sound? And go nuts live?

I too was transfixed by this band. I saw them at the Red Carpet in St. Cloud MN and was hooked for life. Although, the live show at the Cabooze in MPLS, with a horn section featured that night, will live on in my memory forever as being the greatest live performance I have ever seen. I still have a "Are You Shakepearienced?" T-shirt from the late 80's. This band will always haunt me as one of the best musical acts I have ever experienced, or, Shakespearienced.

I believe this band was on the verge of their "Stairway" or "Bohemian Rhapsopy".... then they broke up.
I saw them at Bogart's in Redondo Beach in the early 90's. No one was there until the end (to see the next band.).
ONe of the best private shows ever.

...and just to strike while the iron's hot--as far as I know, a Movie and Music In the Park Loring Park gig of the early band is the first. There are very few early recordings of this group--that survived shoebox disposals and car dashboards. The show was handed to me by my pal Elizabeth, and it features "Time Of The Season" and some interesting references to Janis Joplin in the movie that was to ensue after dusk--Monterey Pop?

I would like to not let this thread die--until a scan, photo, or realia is procured. Anybody?! Do you have any of the 'zine output of the early Trip Shakespeare thing? Twin Citians? Come forth~!
By the way--I have the largest live tape vault of the band I have come across. I'm sure there are much more extensive live recordings among those close to the band--but I do have a couple dozen live shows on CDR back in a basement in Minnesota.
TS went through a sort of 'aesthetic swerve' toward the end when their own mythology got big enough to kind of engulf them. There was this ironic thing they did that got less and less ironic--and pretty soon they kind of imploded. Ha. Something happened. I wish there was video from the days WAAY back when they had that fanzine The Shakesperience or flyer or something. They had a whole trip about them--it wasn't just a band. Nothing quite sums up what this group was.

Yeah, dang I remember something about that with all those weeklies around town back then even in the Cub Food Store with a cool Santa Claus cartoon section. Kind of like Vinnie and the Stardusters from the same area with their three 7inch EP's with comic and coloring books in each one!
