It may have not been as popular as the commodore 64, but my little Tandy CoCo is the sweetest old school cartridge based computer on the planet!! Can a commodore 64 do Downland, or Monkey Kong!?? Hell no it can't.

Even if the commodore is very attractive, and is insanely sexy with all those chips and gizmos along with that adorable laugh that just makes you all warm and fuzzy inside! Oh commodore I want to be in you in more ways than I can even imagine to speak of!! I love you commodore, I love you!

  • hahah I have forgotten how bad this game really were for the most part! Thanks for sharing, I had the COCO 2. Still nice to see it back...all those reds and blues bring back memories...I still have nightmares where I hear that screaming dataset loading sound LOL

  • lol one of my friends had a CoCo and I had a C64. I loved playing Phantom Slayer, Planet Invasion, Skramble etc on his machine but the 64's hardware was head and shoulders above the early CoCo's.

As others have already acknowledged, the Tandy's BASIC interpreter was leagues ahead of that which cheapskate Jack Tramiel provided for the 64.

I found it easier and more fun programming my friends CoCo than my Commodore!

Thanks for sharing the nostalgia from yesteryear. :)

  • ...I'm actually very glad I grew up playing nes. It seems like I would have lost my eye sight playing something like this.

  • was time bandit on the tandy or the commodore 64

  • Awesome. So many memories. I've got a 512K Coco 3 coming in the mail soon. I'm hoping to find a disk drive so I can play all these games I used to in the 80's

  • Just perfect!

made remember my 80's playing in the afternoom...

  • Nice video, however i have to say, C64 can't play Monkey kong but CAN play the 1986 Ocean's version of Donkey Kong, wich has great gfx and audio and it's quite near to the arcade version.

C64 was way ahead on hardware than the CoCo, which was merely a Dragon computer. However it's true C64 Basic sucked... A lot!

But anyways, nice video and nice computer the Coco... I hope i could have one. ;)

  • nice job!! very good video...!

  • The thing I love about the coco over the C64 is the fact that it had graphics and sound routines in the ROM basic. instead of forcing you to directly poke and peek hardware registers to get anything done like on the C64 I firmly believe that the C64 would have been at least 100 times better with an improved ROM basic with added graphics/sound routines.
