like other people said, it's probably about being in love with a girl online, so i *think* the line about "an ex is about the best that I can do" is actually "an 'x' is about the best that i can do" because when you go xoxo the 'x's are kisses, and he can't put real kisses on her, yeah?

@briecheese100 that's a good view on it! i think he's talking from the perspective of the secret lover, the cheater. he says you'll go to your real lover who'll put real kisses on you. i think he means he feels like backup, like he's always gonna be her second choice *tear ):
