In the morning hours of Feruary 27, 2009 North Whitehall firefighters where sent to Route 309 and Shankweiler Road for the reported dwelling fire. Upon arrival command reported the building well involved and requested the second alarm. A tanker taskforce was also requested due to lack of hydrants in the area. Firefighters battled the fire and winds for over an hour before bringing the fire under control. No injuries where reported.

  • Were they just pumping the water off the tankers or did they use dump tanks. Also wasn't aware Lehigh had tanker task forces. Is that new?

  • yes they where pumping off the tankers into the engines instead of using dump tanks, and there is not a task force it was just better sounding than a shit load of tankers

  • If there was a lack of hydrants in the area, why weren't Tankers (or a full Tanker Task Force) dispatched on the initial alarm, or the second alarm? It seems this fire could've been prevented from growing so rapidly had appropriate manpower and apparatus been on-scene initially. Was there no interior attack early on? Don't mean to "Monday morning quarterback", just curious. Wish there was more footage of this assignment... and audio.

  • tankers where called in on both the first and second alarm as well as special called.

  • @tubesteakdynamo they couldnt thou didnt you hear the air horns go off that means everybody out

  • @Skankpronger , That's why REAL firemen go inside. You don't just let shit burn through the roof so you can get to it, you go in and put the fire out.

  • Grow some balls men, out here in CA we actually go inside burning houses and put the fires out. Could have saved that place with some actual firefighting, but I guess not in North Whitehall eh?. Here's a thought; grab a ladder, get on the roof that's not on fire and dump some water through that gable. 5 men on ONE hose outside doing nothing but letting it burn...pitiful.

  • god darn there nothing left we had a bad one like that few months ago

  • I think this was their 1st fire.....ever.

  • Was this the house over by the new construction on 309, just right behind lil wolf?

  • the fire was under the roof the whole time kinda hard to put out if ya cant get right on it

  • If they would even get up on the end porch roof and sprayed into the building's attic at a good angle (actually hitting the fire) the fire would have not needed so many tankers....

  • After watching this,I wonder if any hydrants will be installed around the area in the near future?I'm pleased nobody was hurt.
