This is just to show you how I do my acrylic fill ins and chip repairs. Please no comments/messages telling me it's wrong for me to act like I know what I'm doing with nails...all I know is what I do works for me.

I use Nailene acrylic kit to strengthen my nails. After applying acrylic, you may apply gel for shine and added strength, but I just polish over the acrylic since all I need is strength.

The video is not very clear, and next time I redo my nails I will make a video using my camera.

  • This was so helpful, thank you so much!!! I've been getting my nails done at salons for years and am finally ready to start doing them myself and saving the time and money. Yours is the best video I have seen. Instead of being nervous, I'm psyched to do this!!!

  • @amyb5984 I'm glad it helped! How did it turn out?

  • Thanks so much for the video! It's nice to know I can start doing my own acrylic nails instead of having to get them done at a salon! Question though: One of my nails cracked down the center, and half of it came off. Do you know of any way I can put the half part of the nail back on without going back to the salon? I don't have any time tomorrow, and I need them to look good for tomorrow for something I'm doing. Know what I can do?

  • @broadwayluvr33 Hm, I know I'm going get some nail experts yelling at me for this but if it's too hard to fill in the half with acrylic and make it look decent (though you could try and let it dry, file, and apply more coats until it looks even), I'd try glueing on the half with nail glue and putting a thin thin coat of acrylic over it to smooth. What did you end up doing?

  • Thank you for the video. I just bought a kit to start doing my own fill ins. You explained things well. Do you know - should I remove my tips at any point in time, or can I just keep filling them in? Ive never kept up with them because I couldnt afford to go back to have them done by a pro. So I dont know what to do after a few months or whatever.

    Thanks!

  • @TheMrWildfire The most convenient thing would be to keep filling them in (you can find lots of videos here on Youtube about that) since removing the whole acrylic and tip can be time-consuming and very damaging.

  • you are cute! keep on lookin' pretty and going on with your videos. who cares what people think as long as you are sending whatever message you are trying to get through to people.

  • Don't let negative comments affect how you do your vids. A bad attitude is really off-putting regardless of why you have one. Great video, reconsider re-making it with a positive attitude for your loyal viewers :)

  • Did you use a drill to rough up your nails?? Every video I have looked at so far says you need to drill to fill them yourself but they are really expensive and they look really difficult to use.

  • I wussed out and got them done at the salon. My friend had a gift card. BUT, I now have everything I need to do my own fills and I am going to. Can't believe I've been spending the time and money on salon nails since 1987. Time to DIY, and I will watch your video again for inspiration - - fear is what's stopped me before, and your vid gives me confidence. Thanks again and I'll keep ya posted after I do my first fills!!! Amy xoxo

  • keep up the good work and you are the most beautiful woman in the world add me as a friend

  • @smeganl Nails don't "breathe" like regular skin. The nails become weak because the bond between the acrylic and real nail is stronger than the real nail and nail bed, so tugging and pulling weakens it overall.

  • Thank you for the vid! I just got into acrylics and my place fills for almost as much as it is just to get new ones. Definitely gonna try to fill it myself :)
