This video shows the progress made, thus far, on the London extension to the Lakeland Railway.
When we started constructing this layout we only had access to one half of, what we now call, The Engine Shed. The layout was, then, a large P shape and Gunnmere was a terminus. However, early in the new year of 2009, we finally cleared the shed and were able to extend the layout making Gunnmere a through station, leading to a viaduct, the London loop and a large terminus we named Sueston. We have been working steadily on this part of the layout during the summer and this video gives a brief update of where we are so far.
After deciding to construct a large terminus at one end of the layout we then felt that we needed a terminus at the Lakeland end so that we could then run end-to-end trains. Thus we squeezed in a new station beside the main running track and called it Davemoor. This now gives us a running distance in between the two termini of, approximately, 125'.
The layout now incorporates two branch lines, ten stations, a viaduct, tunnels and lots of bridges and has, almost, taken over our lives but it is great fun. The conversion to DCC and sound has made a big difference to the running of trains too, although DCC is much more sensitive to dirty track! There is no way we would now want to revert to analogue and hearing the loco sounds just makes it seem so real.
what wood do you us to make the roads please

Hi TheCygnus50, actually it was my brother-in-law who made all of the bridges and roads and I think he used ordinary hardboard for most of the road surfaces. I am not sure what wood it was that he used for the bridges etc, I would need to ask him.
