For those who don't know, Zappa was a freaking genius "compositionally" speaking. He was like Billy Strayhorn with an electric guitar.

If you listened to the sound "banal and insipid" was from the clip and that on the first album "Freak Out" FZ himself wrote that; if the Mothers cleaned up there act they could be as big as The Turtles, while attributing it to a record executive, and therein lied the inside joke of Flo and Eddie actually joining the Mothers in 1970 for Chunga's Revenge.
There is the history and I hope I no longer have to hold your hand as I walk you all thru the obvious.
You have been stuffed into my mold.HA

The irony of all this is that Frank actually "got" the Monkees before others did. If you really listen to it it's actually very well written classic pop. Frank in my view was pure genius - way ahead of his time. Very interesting

Mike looks more like Ringo waving the peace signs in the beginning than he does Zappa :P
