Here's a match from the Golden Age of pro wrestling in Australia. Fan favorites Mark Lewin and Spiros Arion take on two big brutes. The Hot Spots, or most viewed sections, are Lewin's Camel Clutch at 3:55 and his intense interview at the end, around 9:40.

  • WOW- Great picture quality- Lewin has got to be one of the hottest of the vintage guys- Thanks for this post!

  • I'm guessing around 1972 because I think that was the year Brower showed up. Btw, I lived in Australia at the time and wrestling ruled it.

  • WOW I WAS EXPECTING IT TO BE REAL lol

  • The footage is around 1971-72, as the Wrestling War with Big Bad John began in 71-72 and is referenced in Lewin's post match interview. Hilarious work by Black Jack when he "falls" into the leg squeeze. Hans Schroeder was an excellent jobber for years in WCW. The postings about Lord Layton refer to his return to these shores in 71 - definitely not to be confused with Mike Cleary, who later became a Laor MLA in NSW and admits he knew nothing about wrestling when he got the gig as caller.

  • RIP King Curtis.

  • Spiros was quite a wrestler, but never recieved a push when he was in the WWF..Lewin was a true mat tech...

  • @simonmoves His name is Mike Cleary

  • YEESH!

  • @Xontar02 --not the lord

  • @RayNDeere -thats not the lord--that guys voice was a local ex rugby player in nsw-that became a commentator-lord had a britsh accent--

  • Thanks for the clarification. It sounded like his lordship a little.

  • The commentator is Michael Cleary, about 6 years after he retired from playing Rugby League. Coincidentally, he was commentating when LAL was brought to Australia and they worked together.
