What is a dubplate?
A Dubplate is also known as a (dub or special) this is a pressing used mainly by djs to play an exclusive one off track, instrumental, accapella, or pre-release song. Mainly its use is to promote and test how well a track will sound and go down in a rave, club, dancehall or radio. This can save you a fortune on the real finished pressing up to ?500.
This dub plate is recorded on to acetate and usually you can get about 25-50 plays at a high sound quality before the sound then deteriorates.
Dubplates cost around ?35 each for a 10 inch pressing and this makes them very exclusive for djs to own.
