Wow so many wire lovers on this post. Asta sure is smart, I've never seen a dog use a ladder before. Awesome. I've had two wires, female and male - love love love the breed. If anyone here is on Facebook - look for Fox Terrier Community - lots of foxie fun!

We have 2 WFT's. M & F. They are absolutely crazy! We have exactly the same pool as you Moose and our female (Mindy) will jump in, even before the pool cover is removed. We also have a kiddie pool and the hose gets a workout. We also have a Scottie and Westie, but all WFT's eventually become alpha in the pack. Males especially. Put two together and watch out. Fun fun fun. You have to be active to own a wire. Personality ++.

@Moosehead429 I've also had three Wires - one had to have a pacemaker and then lived to be 18 years old. I lost my last Wire in December, 2009. I still have two Smooth Fox Terriers - but they aren't the same as a Wire. I need another Wire! Foxyk9

I have had wires my entire life., Most love the water. Playing with a hose or in a baby pool or just taking a dive. OUr justin loves the ocean.....he is a real beach dog.

I know exactly what you're saying, I feel the same way about Mikey (my WFT)...he's been a great friend and companion to me through the years....he's been following me everywhere I go for almost 12 years now...talk about commitment!

my little guy has his own chair in the office here with me (home) and he hopped in just as I was reading this. Just turned 5. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

I got my first WFT from the local SPCA shelter. The little guy will be 12 in May. He still follows me everywhere I go and it doesn't bother me a bit either.

This was the only one that I had with a pool, so I can't really say about the others. Got my first wire when I was 25. Lost #4 at only 4 months of age to Spinal Menigitis, broke my heart to have him put down and only a puppy. He never had a chance. #5 has been a God send when I needed him the most, he has been here for me everday and never more than 10' away. That bothers some people, but I adore that about him.
LMAO!! WFT are so naturally smart! My first WFT "Happy" learned to jump the wall of our pool too, so my Dad built a special floating platform so Happy could cool off when ever & we did not have too worry about him drowning. Great vid!

I am VERY worried about him getting in and not being able to get out. His vocabulary is amazing. He knows so many words. Hollywood missed a star, and I would not trade him for all the money in the world. We want to get a female maybe in another year. I can't say enough good things about this dog, he is a once in a lifetime dog.

Asta is 3 years old, and it was 46" from ground to the rail. He does this anytime he gets hot from running around playing or chasing birds. He always swims 2 laps and then gets out. He is my 5th WFT and the smartest and easiest to train I have ever seen. He taught himself to jump in, that wasn't my doing.
