Music from Arcana, a very old-school dungeon crawler RPG in which the characters and enemies are represented by cards (but not a card-based battle system). I happen to be a big fan of HAL, and this game falls nicely into their niche. It's a long and difficult game, though. I believe I heard somewhere that it actually was an NES game at the beginning of its development, but I could be making that up.

The sound is composed by the same people (Ishikawa and Ando) who would soon after become the iconic Kirby composers. In fact, if you listen, you can tell that this game uses a set of instruments very similar to that of Kirby Super Star.

Tracks:
[0:01] Prologue to the Tale
[1:28] Our Story's Name
[2:12] A New Chapter
[3:05] Conflict
[3:51] Decisive Battle
[4:59] Second Armageddon
[6:17] Death of a Loved One

Game: Arcana (SNES - 1992)
[JP title - Card Master: Rimusaria no Fuuin "Card Master: Seal of Rimsalia"]
Composers: Jun Ishikawa and Hirokazu Ando

Song names are unofficial.

Thanks to the Arcana Shrine at rpgclassics.com for the enemy sprites!
