  • What a nice horse!! But it seems uncomfortable..maybe doesn't like being center of attention xD

  • what a BEAUTIFUL blanket on that appy! Hes just amazingly beautiful!!

  • *whistles* What a beauty.

  • well, you did not mention that the foundation apps were gaited! :(

  • The gene that give them the color is also the gene that makes them get moon blindness..which is common in older appaloosa's. Though some may have come from Spainish..most were brought to America by Russian traders in washington state.

  • Most original appaloosa were breed with little tail and sparse mane for going thru the scrub in Idaho back country they were also small in relation to the xbred ones today 14.1-14.3 hands...also the temperment was vital....if other horse stealing tribemembers were around the tribes would keep the horse inside the tipi and make the wife sleep outside most appaloosa'a today are mixed with thoroughbreds which is why the are taller and many are loosing the color mixture of spots.
