Brief excerpt from a speech by Maj. Gen. William Lord, commander of the Air Force Cyberspace Command, at National Space Symposium, Broadmoor, Colorado Springs, 03.31.2009. More details you should know, not recorded: Cyberspace Command will be part of the Space Command, formed as the 24th Air Force. Hqs. will be San Antonio or Colorado Springs. It will perform computer attack and defense.
The Cyber Command will employ a total of 5500 people (200 people at headquarters), with an annual budget of $5 to $6 billion - not new money, but money taken from existing intelligence and military budgets. Among components of Cyber Command will be Air Force Network Integration Center (former Air Force Communications Center), Combat Communications Wing, and the Air Force Information Warfare Center at Lackland AFB in San Antonio. Lord said the Cyber Command will work closely with the National Security Agency, which just established a large national storage center in San Antonio.
