I'm Paul Elkins of http://www.highmileagetrikes.blogspot.com
This is my pedal powered velomobile art car for burningman 2011. This quadracycle borrows ideas from the 1945 French Mochet Velocycle. Being an art car I had fun making a crazy dashboard with multiple switches, lights and guages. The steering wheel is also exagerated but still, It's a great little vehicle for the money and time it took to build.

  • I have one rim brake on a rear wheel. Seeing this was designed for Burning man, which is flat as a pancake, one brake was all that was needed.

  • Thank you? I hope...Can somebody translate?

  • The vehicle weighs under 100 pounds. 2011 was the first year I had it at burningman

  • No plans as of yet, and yes, it is definitely patterned after the Mochet Velocycle.

  • You're welcome. I'm happy to share.

There's no money in patenting an idea anyway.

China will just copy it and sell it for less.

  • I like Cake, and the song fit. Too much carbon monozide, for meeeeeee.

  • can you make it solar powered love it

  • may i ask how you did the brakes?

  • Paul,

Very much in the Mochet spirit. I love it!. I have had this on my radar for almost as many years as you, but I have not had the ability to pull it off to date. You are an inspiration! I want to get to the Micro Car museum to get to see a Mochet velo car in person,,,,

    Thanks again!

  • congratulations Paul!!!, is a great idea and best of all, you share your creation with us all, a big hug for you!!!

  • felicitaciones Paul!!!! es una gran idea y lo mejor de todo es que compartes tu creacion con todos nosotros, un abrazo!!!!!!!

  • Thats very cool Paul. Keep up the good work.

  • Where do you get the coroplast?

  • Hi Paul - just visited you web site and was amazed by what youu have made. There is both modern cool designs and some old school stuff that is still very good in its own right. Some of the quadcycles tricycles are similar to the ideas I hv had in my head since I was a kid - but hv never had the enginering skills/expertise or the parts and tools lying about to even get started. I just bought a Scott MTB that I plan to put electric motor on which will be a challenge. Im sure your very proud.of yrs
