Kinetic type animation that briefly explores the nagging question, "If God is all-good and all-powerful, why is there evil in the world?" Thanks to Cornelie (VO) and Tim Gale (Audio).
@Zangomatic I guess you would call me Agnostic atheists. By the way, are you a "classic atheist" when it comes to the Gods described in all the different religions or an "agnostic atheist", that only claims his ignorance and have no position?
Because agnostics usually do this, I made the distinction in my comments between "classic atheists" who affirm "GOD DOES NOT EXIST" and "agnostic atheists" who say "I DO NOT HAVE BELIEF IN GOD'S EXISTENCE."
Since classic atheists ARE making a claim, they may be legitimately called on to defend their position. Agnostic atheists only claim is their ignorance re: God's existence. They have no position, so they require no defense.
@Zangomatic now that’s another very interesting topic. How beneficial is it to have profound convictions. On one hand, it increases your impression of self determination and improves your power of persuasion (good for the ego?). On the other hand, profound convictions can also obscure the fact that one may be wrong (with all the associated consequences)...
@Zangomatic For the same reason, it is unreasonable for theists to ask atheists to prove that God does not exist: because you would be asking them to prove a claim they've not made!
QUESTION #2: "Why is it not reasonable for me to ask you to prove you don't owe me money?" It is unreasonable because your asking me to prove a claim I've not made!
If there are other questions you've asked that I've overlooked, please accept my apology, in advance.
re: "not interested in answering your questions"? Claudbase, it's not that I'm uninterested in your questions. On the contrary, the thinking of agnostics is an endless source of fascination for me. It's just that I've been doing other things for the last 12 hours.
QUESTION #1: "Do you acknowledge that rejecting a claim is not the same as making a claim?" Yes. While REJECTING a claim necessarily entails ACCEPTING its negation, it is not the same decision. (aka, Law of the Excluded Middle).
Human knowledge is finite, we cannot know ANYTHING with 100% absolute certainty. This is not controversial.
THEISTS and Classic ATHEISTS and are what they are NOT because they have 100% absolute certainty about their convictions, but because THEY HAVE CONVICTIONS!
They regard God's existence as TRUE or FALSE. They assert a position which they regard as TRUE.
AGNOSTICS are what they are NOT because they lack 100% certainty - WE ALL LACK 100% CERTAINTY - what they lack is conviction.
@claudbase This is why the most atheists will never say that they know for a fact that god cannot possibly exist, that would presuppose an infinite knowledge. On the other hand, theists are compelled to reach this absurd level of certainty.
@Zangomatic You're visibly not interested in answering the two questions I keep repeating. I will nevertheless answer yours: The "undecidable" attribute I am using is the one used in logic. Of course anybody can decide to believe whatever he or she want to. It is only illogical to profess and absolute certainty about such choice. (cont)
re: "undecidable" - I can understand you, personally, being undecided.
But you are now claiming more than this, right? You're claiming that NO ONE CAN DECIDE if God exists? We both know that most people have decided God DOES exist, and every atheist has decided God DOES NOT exist. So it's decidable.
You must mean something else...
Do you mean that God's existence (or lack thereof) CANNOT POSSIBLY BE KNOWN? That's a big assertion to make but at least it's a position!

You're equivocating on the term "atheist".

Which are you?
