tilting 3wheeler(mechanical main project by mechX 2007-2011 dscet chennai)

Our project emphasis on the development of a tilting mechanism in the three wheelers. This will help to increase the handling and will negotiate with the rollover of the three wheelers. We have designed and developed a chassis to the bike and provided two front wheel with the capability of the tilt and turn.
This report outlines the entire design and fabrication process of the Tilting three Wheeler throughout the course of the Design Project I and II of the Mechanical Engineering program under Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan college. The contents include a description of the design and selection process including all refinements to the tricycle from the build report to the final fabrication model. After the full scale prototype was fabricated and assembled, a number of tests were conducted on the Tilting Three Wheeler to analyze the performance based on velocity, turning radius, maneuverability, braking distance and adjustability. The turning and tilting of the Tilting Three Wheeler to maneuver extremely well and maintain high level of stability at a variety of speeds. Testing concluded that all design requirements were met during testing with the exception of turning radius which was 2 m above the minimum. The report includes some suggested improvements that would allow the Tilting Three Wheeler to meet this design requirement and improve the Wheeler overall.
The final prototype proved to be an excellent working model of the original design concept
