2000 Yamaha R1 Graves

4 days after I got my first bike back in July 2007.
2000 R1 5200miles Graves Airbox / foam filter, Graves Intake cam + springs, retainers, Graves Full titanium exhaust, fender elim.

Stupidly sold it. Biggest mistake of my life.

Baby you will be missed like nothing else, you brought me the most amazing sensations I have ever experienced. Over a year and a half and 6,500 miles of bliss,white knuckle terror, euphoria, and countless near death experiences.

Adelaida (best bike road I have been on in north county slo and the result of a third of my milage), Nacimento lake road, backroad Templeton, California valley, Highway 58 where I crashed, you relieved my stresses and anger built up during the week.

You showed me the true meaning of speed and precision. Man and machine in unison with one purpose hurtling through space and time with a half second false move between victory and irreversible defeat. You also forcibly put me in my place when I became too cocky as it should be.

In a way you showed me how to view life.

To anyone with a bike, ride it hard, ride it within (your) limits, don't stop expanding your limits, don't stop riding because like Samuel Jackson said in 51st State:

My product is 51 times stronger than cocaine, 51 times more hallucinogenic than acid, and 51 times more explosive than ecstasy. It's like getting a personal visit... from God!

...he was talking about 2 wheels, an engine, and free curving road.

only crashed once on it, due to trying to keep up with a very good daytona 675 with ohlins on an unfamiliar road

Did you find out the bolt configuration for the damper? I have a GPR V4 on my 98 and the bolt pattern looks a bit different. Nice bike and hope you've enjoyed riding it since you posted this vid.

@Deesboy08 No I never did, sold the bike on july 4th 08 when i picked up a mazdaspeed 3. I did enjoy my R1 immensely during the time I had it and have had many good and scary memories on it. Have a twice crashed 05 zx12 now that I am enjoying in every way more except in weight and tire wearing respects.

@lildelvil No. Would not recommend to start with any supersport/superbike not even because of power ratings. Start with a ninja 650, great bike, better all rounder. Then test at superbike and decide if it is worth it. cheers

Have you tried using the Super Tech oil filters sold at Wal-Mart? You should purchase the SuperTech ST6607 or the slightly longer ST7317 for your Yamaha YZF-R1 sportbike. They are made by champion and cost less than $3.
