@AnAverageSkeptic yes it's scary cause if you ever get lost in africa or anything and if you hear that you don't know if it'f near by or 3 miles away very creepy
-
@AnAverageSkeptic they do it to either to tell you to get away i'm pissed or to call in other lions to the pride i don't know

@venerablemasterNV It's not from his nose tho it's more from his stomach. It's a really really deep noise. This video really doesn't do how loud it is justice. It was intimidating even tho I knew he couldn't get me. It made me still back up. From everyone I've talked to that works with animals, including the zoo staff, it's what he does to sort of guard lioness that's in there with him and it's his "back off" roar.

I've looked through so many video's it's not even funny. All I want to do is see a real life lion roar LOUD, you know, maybe just a little like the ones in Lion King do? That would be awesome to see. But all the ones I can find are these quiet little fits.

@IBreak4It From what I hear that's because if that do that full on roar they are going to attack you, so whoever filmed it probably wouldn't live. How loud this was doesn't come through in video. This vibrates your chest and I know someone who lives near this zoo and they said they can hear the lions at night and late afternoon, they live about 2 miles away. It's a really deep roar.

thats not a roar, its a bark. big cats bark sort of. it means hes mad i think

@SWCeagles2007 I've never heard that it means they're mad. I've heard it meant "back off". If that means he's mad then he's an miserably angry lion.
