  • Hi

I have just bought a 335d just like yours and also have the little exclamation mark next to the D on the computer. Do you know what this is? it comes and goes randomly and I am a little concerned that its a fault of some form? Can anyone tell me what this is?

  • @fubecabr

    yes i know it :)

After 2000 you can drive it to the max

Most engine break in occurs within the first kilometers of use. At 2000km, 95% of the break-in process is complete.

Tuning potential? I say turbodiesels have the edge on that. On a lot of diesels, you can increase power by 100hp very easily and at a low cost. Gas motors are a lot more limited in the boost they can handle. With head studs and fire rings, my diesel can handle 60psi or more. Gas mpg will always lag behind diesel because of compression ratios and throttling losses.

CO2 isn't the issue, it's CO that's the issue on gas motors of which 99.9% of eliminated in cat. converters.

  • That doesn't even sound like a diesel.

  • @MaxHPep I agree. I had a Peugeot 406 HDI (leased car) when I was a taxi driver and I used to abuse it and it never gave up. It had 380 000 miles on it and I asked one of the mechanics if it was on its original engine as I assumed it must have had at least one replacement in that time. The answer was yes, it was still the original engine. Quite impressive. However, I also had a Vauxhall Vectra DTi and the engine snapped its crankshaft. Petrols will last, if one changes the oil often.
