XBMC 9.04.1 running on the Acer Revo with Aeon Skin and full GPU acceleration (VDPAU). The Revo is connected via HDMI to an Onkyo 606 receiver, the display is a Sharp Aquos FullHD LCD.
XBMC is installed on the SD Card as an XBMCbuntu installation with the newest nvidia driver 185.18.14 and full VDPAU support, audio goes to the receiver as HDMI passthrough (DTS/AC3/etc).
Detailed instructions are found at the XBMC.org Linux forums http://xbmc.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=52

Many thanks to the great people at nvidia, XBMC, and the maker of the awesome Aeon skin http://www.aeonproject.com/

  • actually it's not hard at all, especially since a new XBMC live CD will come out in the next weeks. I have this revo and (as a fall back device in case I screw somehting up) a 2nd generation xtreamer, probably going to do some comparisons of the jukebox functionality next week

  • I was just wondering about how you get HD audio to your receiver if it only has HDMI pass through?

  • @Philosoraptorz

the onkyo 606 has full HDMI bitstreaming and decoding support also for HD audio, so DD and DTS via HDMI are no problem for XBMC. developments are being made for linux XBMC to also output Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD.

  • Boxee is xbmc with a lot of useless social networking crap, that's right. Now please go away.

  • boxee is better

  • @candywrapp no, boxee is different

btw stay tuned for my XBMC 9.11 video

  • Nice video but I lost all my acne permanently in about only a month. I found this particular method called: Acne 404 Nuke i can't remember the actual website just simply google the name Acne 404 Nuke and you will find it.

  • @jacque1337 Go to Settings and then Video. Something along those lines. VDPAU is enabled there.

  • How do you enable VDPAU? Is it something which XBMC will do by default or is it a setting a need to change? I havent treied movies through XBMC yet but watching HD's through VLC player does give a stutter..

  • why not get a ps3? o.o lol..

  • Looks cool but I think it's a waste of a PC to use it strictly as a HTPC to be honest. The Revo systems are capable of much more than just movie watching. But, to each their own.

  • have you 2GB RAM or 4GB RAM inside?

  • how hard was it to set up everything? how many do you have for your home?

  • ps. When do we see your new movie ? And a link with some information so I can copy your settings ;)
